Paris, France, October 15th, 2025 – Gourmey, France’s pioneering cultivated food company, has acquired Vital Meat to form PARIMA, a global leader in next-generation animal production. Bringing together two of Europe’s foremost innovators, PARIMA combines complementary strengths in scalable cell cultivation and validated production economics.
PARIMA develops scalable systems to produce high-quality animal products directly from cells, with applications spanning food, nutrition, and beyond — meeting the world’s growing needs sustainably. The company is building the world’s most advanced portfolio of cultivated food creations, starting with duck and chicken, serving both premium dining and broader markets worldwide.
A Strategic Step Toward Global Scale
This acquisition unites Gourmey’s full-stack industrial platform—which includes premium cultivated duck validated by Michelin-starred chefs and production costs under €7/kg—with Vital Meat’s poultry cell-line technology, based on nearly 25 years of avian cell research at Groupe Grimaud, a global reference in animal genetics and biotechnology.
PARIMA also combines strong regulatory leadership, with nine active regulatory filings worldwide, and a growing network of top culinary and agrifood partners.
Building the Next Phase of Cultivated Protein
The cultivated protein industry is entering a new phase of consolidation and scale-up. With Gourmey’s proven production economics and Vital Meat’s 2,000-liter bioreactor capacity, PARIMA now possesses a solid foundation to scale across species and markets.
While PARIMA leads global scale-up and industrial expansion, Gourmey continues as its culinary and innovation arm, focused on premium product design and chef collaborations.
“This is the right moment for consolidation and scale,” said Nicolas Morin-Forest, CEO of PARIMA. “We’ve proven economic viability and are now expanding across species by uniting two pioneering teams to lead the global shift toward efficient, sustainable animal production.”
Strengthening IP and Regulatory Leadership
With 15 patent families and over 70 patent applications, PARIMA holds one of the strongest intellectual property portfolios in cultivated foods. Vital Meat’s production-ready chicken cell lines complement Gourmey’s cost-efficient model, accelerating both industrial and regulatory success.
Building on Gourmey’s early leadership under the European Commission novel food framework, PARIMA is on track to be the first company worldwide positioned for approval of two cultivated species — duck and chicken.
“Joining forces enables us to reach critical mass to serve global markets, from premium foodservice to large-scale B2B,” said Etienne Duthoit, Founder of Vital Meat.
“By merging world-class expertise in cell lines, bioprocessing, and food science, we accelerate profitability and unlock powerful growth drivers.”
Frédéric Grimaud, CEO of Groupe Grimaud, added:
“Our decades of genetics and bioproduction expertise are strengthened through PARIMA. This partnership unites the technical depth and economics needed to make cultivated poultry commercially viable.”
The Future of Animal Production
PARIMA is demonstrating that scalable, economically viable cultivated food production is now achievable. Guided by validated industrial models and rigorous safety standards, the company blends scientific precision, industrial efficiency, and culinary artistry to scale across species and markets.
